Hypoglycemia and diabetes

Hypoglycemia is a decrease in blood glucose levels below normal. This condition is especially dangerous for patients receiving insulin therapy.

Causes of hypoglycemia in a diabetic patient:

1. Skipping food after insulin administration;

2. Insufficient amount of carbohydrates in the diet;

3. Excessive physical activity and stress;

4. The introduction of an increased dose of insulin, etc.

Symptoms and signs of hypoglycemia:

1. Weakness, instability of gait, impaired coordination of movements, loss of consciousness is possible,

2. Rapid shallow breathing,

3. Rapid heartbeat,

4. Drowsiness, dizziness,

5. Feeling of hunger,

7. Fear,

8. Paleness of the skin,

9. Profuse sweat,

10. Visual and auditory hallucinations,

11. Muscle tension,

12. Trembling,

13. Convulsions.

If symptoms appear, immediately check the level of glucose in the blood to take the necessary measures to prevent deterioration of the condition.
